At MICHI we are proud to present a unique and diverse selection of the highest quality Japanese matcha sourced from the famous Uji region as well as recent additions from Ureshino, Yame and Toyota
Sourced from independent, and award-winning small and family run businesses that have developed and refined their individual growing techniques and processes over centuries

SHADE GROWN
The tea plants are shaded from sunlight for several weeks before harvest. This increases the chlorophyll, l'theanine and amino acid content of the leaves, giving matcha its bright, almost luminescent, vivid green colour and sweet umami flavour

STEAMED
What makes matcha, matcha. At MICHI we require the highest quality grade tencha to make ceremonial matcha so uses only the youngest, shade grown tea leaves from the 'first flush', these are picked right at the beginning of the season, in early May

STONE GROUND
Our matcha is stone ground into a fine powder using traditional granite stone mills. This unlocks the flavour and quality of the tea, creating a smooth and creamy texture when blended with water
