DESCRIPTION

This is a gentle light roast from the misty mountains of Gifu. The roast is just enough to coax the leaves out of their green and into something golden, soft, and surprisingly sweet.

The cup is delicate but present. Notes of milk chocolate drift alongside the quiet richness of walnut — rounded, never sharp, with a natural creaminess that makes itself at home in steamed milk. As a hojicha latte, it leans lighter than you might expect: less ember, more morning light.

It is the hojicha for those who thought they didn't like hojicha. And for those who already do, its a must try.

Grown in Gifu Prefecture, where cooler mountain air and slower growing seasons lend the leaves an uncommon gentleness that no roaster can manufacture — only honor.

This ground Hojicha offers a deep flavour profile. The earthy richness of raw cocoa, like the first bite of a milk chocolate square. This chocolatey depth gives way to the toasty, comforting notes of roasted cereals. As the flavours settle, a nutty undertone emerges, capturing the buttery, almost creamy essence of walnuts nuts. Smoky warmth, mellow sweetness, and nutty complexity come together in a harmonious, grounding experience.

SERVING SUGGESTION

Finely ground in to a powder this hojicha should be prepared using the same method as with matcha.

The deep flavour profile lends itself to be served as a hot or cold latte mixed with any plant-based milk or used as an ingredient in various mixed, iced drinks as well as in bakery and confectionary.
