Our Kabusecha Asatsuyu comes from the small hillside farm of our friend Koji in Ureshino.
When we first tasted this tea, it was unlike anything we had ever tasted — bright and fresh, with gentle fruit notes and a soft umami finish.
Koji’s passion for the craft of green tea runs deep. His workshop sits halfway up a steep, misty hill, surrounded by small, idyllic tea fields. We are beyond excited to introduce this beautiful tea to you.
Kabusecha is a distinctive Japanese green tea that bridges the worlds of gyokuro and sencha. Before harvest, the tea plants are shaded for one to three weeks — a delicate process that limits sunlight, slows photosynthesis, and boosts the concentration of L-Theanine, the amino acid responsible for umami sweetness. The result is a balanced cup that captures both depth and freshness in flavour balance.
